About The Fringe Desk

Broadcasting from the edge of everything. Est. 17 September 2026.

Why This Exists

I grew up in Scotland, which means I grew up understanding that the world has layers. Old country. Old stories. The kind of place where the past doesn't stay buried and the darkness outside the window feels like it has opinions. That never left me.

The Fringe Desk exists because the stories I find most compelling — the ones about signals from deep space that nobody can explain, ancient sites that shouldn't exist, classified programmes that were stranger than any fiction, and the particular dread that only good horror can produce — don't have a natural home anywhere else. Most outlets either dismiss them or sensationalise them. I wanted something in between. Something that takes the strangeness seriously without losing its mind about it.

I write every word on this site. I research every story. There's no editorial committee, no corporate parent, no algorithm deciding what's worth covering. Just one person who has been obsessed with this stuff since childhood, and who finally decided to do something about it.

Rigorous

Every claim is sourced. Every gap in the evidence is named. The strangeness is in the facts — it doesn't need embellishment.

Independent

No corporate parent. No advertiser relationships. No editorial line handed down from above. Just one writer and the facts.

Curious

Genuine curiosity, not predetermined conclusions. The most interesting answer is usually the one nobody expected.

Honest

When I get something wrong, I say so. Corrections are published prominently and without qualification.

The Person Behind the Desk

JH
Jordan Hill
Founder & Writer

Scottish. Obsessive. Deeply suspicious of easy answers. This stuff has had its hooks in me since I was a child — staying up past midnight reading about unexplained signals, ancient sites that shouldn't exist, and whatever was making that noise outside. The interest never faded. If anything it got worse. The Fringe Desk is the thing I always wanted to read and eventually decided to build myself. I cover every channel on this site. I write every word. Make of that what you will.

Get in Touch

Tips, corrections, story leads, and general correspondence are always welcome. If you've got something that belongs on the fringe, I want to hear it.
